Events and celebrations are an important and integral part of the XSEED Preschool. Throughout the year, we do little things to celebrate different festivals and to further instill in children important principles we strongly believe in like our Green School philosophy.
Green Screen Day
Green Screen Day celebrated on 17th Sept. 2011 marked the culmination of the week of long activities with children learning about the environment, planet pals and value of trees. Children learnt that we should plant more trees & also made a booklet on trees titled “Trees – Our Friends.”
Green Screen on Sat. 17th Sept. was an enriching experience where we all got a good insight into the value of the Vermicompost & how each one of us can create it in our homes.
The Moms enjoyed the event & participated well in the 3 R’s Race and Collage making activities. It was a good attempt by Moms to run along with their children & segregate the trash into Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle. Teamwork, enthusiasm and creativity were very visible, while creating the collage work with waste.
All winners felt good carrying a potted plant.
Parents said, ‘a very inspiring initiative by the school’….they felt it was ‘a wonderful experience’. ‘An excellent theme really enjoyed learning the fun way with our little ones’. This event was a team building & bonding exercise.
Blossoms Day
This is a graduation cum farewell celebration that we have at the end of the academic year to say goodbye to those who will leave us to move into whole schools and to acknowledge and wish good luck to those who will be moving into the next grade. In sticking to our philosophy of every child being a star, this is day not of competition or comparisons but a day to purely recognise and applaud each little one for their individual success and growth over the course of the year. With graduation gowns and certificates, it is a fun, yet proud day for our little ones, their parents and for the preschool team.
Green ScreenCelebrated every year, this event is an integral part of the XSEEDPreschool. Reflecting our philosophy of being a green school, where every day is treated as Earth day, this event helps showcase all that the children have done and learnt with regards to the environment and what they can do to protect it. It is an opportunity for parents to also get involved and to see children practically apply the concepts of the 3 R’s – Reduce, Recycle and Reuse – that they are exposed to everyday in school through art and craft activities, story sessions, gardening activities, games and visits to our kitchen garden and vermicompost.
Celebrations
At the XSEED Preschool, we celebrate festivals every month to give children a taste of the diversity of Indian culture and an exposure to the different celebrations that they may not always get a chance to experience outside of school. From dressing up in traditional clothes to having a snack that is specific to that particular festival or day, through stories, drama and audio-visual presentations, through craft activities and traditional games, the children at XSEED get a taste of a variety of events and celebrations like Ugadi, Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam and many, many more!
Field trips are organized at XSEED Preschools at regular intervals. These involve an academic focus, such as a trip to the zoo or Neighbourhood is organized to learn more about animals and understand why people need to live together as a community. Field trips also offer a look at something relevant to develop such as a skill, like learning to transact money while purchasing. Field trips give students tangible and sometimes hands-on experiences that pertain to what they're learning in school. Trips without an academic focus also find place in XSEED Preschools, often to commemorate an event, such as Children’s’ Day.
Books Week
Books Week is an annual children’s festival that celebrates the freedom to read and draws attention to different kind of books. Mentors develop activities, offer range of stories and tell stories to highlight the importance of reading.
‘READiscover- Put yourself in the picture’ is the theme chosen for the year 2010- 2011 wherein stories will be used to energize & enthuse. Besides, it will help enhance literacy, thinking and imagination skills.
Animal Week
Animal week is a celebration of animals that helps raise awareness and standards of animal welfare.
The week is an initiative to help make the world a safer, more compassionate place for all animals.
Children reach out to the wider community to remind them that animals do matter, animals like the tigers who are routinely killed or orphaned for their skin. Children learn about different animals, their sounds and movements. They understand the need to keep the environment clean for animals. Children learn to be sensitive towards animals, develop interest in knowing different habitats of animals. It also involves parents in various activities related to animals.
Art & Craft week
The aim of this special week is to have the children explore through the medium of Art and Craft. Art is a fun way to connect with children. It’s a fantastic medium to enable them to explore their creativity and expression. It encourages their creative thinking skills as they combine one idea with another. Through art, the children not only develop fine motor skills, eye-hand co-ordination but also other motor skills.
The week unfolds with the intent of exposing the children to the wonderful and magical world of colours. To the children, colour is one of the most attractive qualities of the visual world, from the subtle colours of nature to the bright colours of their toys and clothes. The awareness of colours is developed through art and craft activities involving exploration, experimentation and observation. ![]()
